Setup an Advent Calendar for PiFace Control And Display

To install our advent calender, first open a Terminal on your Raspberry Pi and enter
git clone https://gist.github.com/7684150.git

You can now run the calendar with the command

If you are running adventCalenderCAD before December, the screen will display the text 'Not December yet'.

Otherwise you will see the countdown to Christmas.

You can also make the program executable
chmod a+x 7684150/adventCalendarCAD.py
and run it like this
7684150/adventCalendarCAD.py

So your PiFace advent calendar reminds you, how many days till Christmas, every time your Raspberry Pi boots up, you can edit the rc.local file using your favourite text editor, eg
sudo leafpad /etc/rc.local

Navigate to the end of the file and insert the following line before the line that says exit 0
/usr/bin/python3 /home/pi/7684150/adventCalendarCAD.py

Save the file and reboot your Raspberry Pi. Your Christmas message will appear. After Chirstmas you can stop the advent calendar from starting at boot by removing the line from the file you have just edited.
